Open spreads of the book highlighting image and type treatment

While converting the "Origins of Language" Wikipedia article into a book format, I wanted it to feel like a modern manuscript or textbook. The subtle cream coloured pages paired with deep-blue text is an unusual, but fitting combination of ancient and modern. The images are also treated in a similar fashion, centered on the page with figure-captions and a blue overlay. I've used a single typeface and type-size to better understand different ways of signifying type hierarchy. The text is justified and centered, again to mimic ancient manuscripts, but often spans two columns to fill the page size.
